A flame of an oxygen-acetylene torch is about 6000 degrees F. In view of the molten steel to about 2800F which is pretty freakin hot!

You can do many things happening with a team of oxygen acetylene torch. You can solder defines the line of air conditioning, welding copper water pipes, welding Silver stainless steel, chrome tube weld 4130, and even the heat and bend metal thicker than 1 inch. But oxy-fuel torches can be extremely dangerous if not used correctly. OSHA also requires employers to ensure workers using oxygen gas to be properly trained and qualified to oxy-fuel welding, cutting, heating and brazing. (see 29 CFR 1910.252)

In my 30 years in the field of welding, I am always surprised by the lack training in the safe operation of oxyfuel equipment .. Even experienced welders are often deficient in the use of acetylene torches, oxygen hands unless they have received training in the demonstration demanding the competition

The safety equipment required oxygen acetylene training will follow the basic safety and understand some basic principles:

or oxygen cylinders are pressurized to over 2500 psi and can become a projectile if the reverse. Always, always, always keep the lid screwed when the cylinder is not assured.

Bottles are filled with acetylene or compressed acetylene gas in a porous material saturated with liquid acetone. They should remain upright to prevent regulators acetone liquid damage and reduces the flow of gas. If you place your mail, let them sit for a while before using.

o Do not transport or store the bottles in a confined space (I, E, trunk or truck toolbox) welding supply store often show pictures of cars destroyed by exploding bottle oxygen and acetylene, transported in the trunk of a car. Even if you sign a waiver of transport of the bottles.

or Never use damaged equipment.

Oxygen O Always open the cylinder very slowly. Its opening is very dangerous and can quickly cause the regulator to operate. Yes I said explode. (Please believe me, just Google "burnout" regulator)

Never use oil or any part of the team. On the presence of pure oxygen oil can easily ignite

or Always purge the gas and is the regulator of the screws when finished using torch

There are several different manufacturers oxycutting hardware: Victor Smith and Harris are 3 major brands and each develops differently with their functions of equipment in mind. Thus, the operation of the torches each manufacturer is different. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

The first thing to do when preparing to operate a gas cutting torch is to inspect the team. Make sure the cylinders are securely fastened to prevent them from falling .. Then inspect the hoses to ensure they are not cracked or putrefaction. Feeling metal connectors to ensure they are fully closed cylinder valves are closed by regulators zero reading.

If the regulators does not read zero, one of two things is wrong: the meter or meters have been damaged or that the previous user did not bleed the line pressure. To relieve pressure, open the right valve in the torch and turn the screw until the needle to zero. If the needle reaches zero, the indicator is damaged and should not be used.

If the meters are determined to work properly the next thing to do is make sure that the screws are supported regulation where you can not feel the pressure spring from them.

Here is a simple ABC, 123 ready to use for setup and closure of oxy-fuel equipment.

Or extinguish the flames by turning off the gas valves of the torch (manufacturers differ on whether oxygen or acetylene extinguish first.)

Close all bottles

or service lines

o Once the indicators are set to zero, back to the adjustment screw
