How I can fix my iPod?

Here's the deal. Everything was wrong with this iPod (iPod Classic 80g). It crashed once you have restored worked for a time, crashed again, but I have a red X, I got rid Red Cross, and now only shows the Apple icon unless your connection to iTunes, and then says: "Do not disconnect." Maybe I should restore your computer instead of your iPod. or have you considered upgrading to Windows 7
