Essential Songs iPod?

I had an iPod for Christmas and I can not decide what songs to put. I like catchy songs. Dance music, R & B, Indie, etc. ABIT'm looking for something different and mostly new songs. In any suggestions?

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (coyotes, Dynamo Voliation, Details in the Fabric (feat. James Morrison) album too new) Britney Spears is incredible. If U Seek Amy, Womanizer, Circus, etc etc. phonograph. Furthermore, his latest album, Blackout, had some amazing songs. YouTube Hot As Ice "," Freakshow "," Break The Ice ',' Gimme More ', so I think the new track from Chris Crocker's mind in the gutter is great too. My favorite bands are Crystal Castles CSS, Hadouken!, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jesse McCartney, Klaxons, The Kooks .. you should definitely check out some of these bands out.

The Essentials $9.98 This disc is a reminder of what a great singles band the Monkees were. You could stack up these 11 songs against almost any other band's Top 11, and the Monkees would prevail. Some might even say they give the Beatles a run for their money. Songs like "I'm a Believer," "Stepping Stone," "Last Train to Clarksville," and "Daydream Believer" are timeless classics in anyone's book. There is not a weak song to be found, and on that account, The Essentials is almost a better compilation than the Monkees' Greatest Hits compilation from 1995. While that disc includes some classic songs that weren't hit singles and presents a more complete picture of the band, it also includes some of the group's later, inferior work and two tracks from the '80s reunion years. The Essentials focuses on the early years when the Monkees were a hit-producing juggernaut; the only track from their later period is the bewitching "Porpoise Song" from the Head soundtrack. If you are looking for great non-single tracks, check out the Anthology collection or better yet, the Music Box box set. The Essentials $9.98 Essentials was released in 2002, during a time when compilations weren't exactly a rare commodity. To make its presence a little better, Essentials was only one of two Average White Band compilations released domestically since their 1992 best-of. Luckily for consumers and compilers, the AWB catalog is so foolproof, a good compilation is almost assured. The best songs remain the ones from their classic self-titled album from 1974. "Picking Up the Pieces" and "Person to Person" display their J.B.'s-influenced rhythm scheme. The great "Got the Love" and "Work to Do" also feature the strong vocals of guitarist/bassist Hamish Stuart and bassist/guitarist Alan Gorrie and their effortless chemistry. After the 1974 cuts, AWB never really sounded as quirky or charming again. They did remain good to great, though. With drummer Steve Ferrone replacing the late Robbie McIntosh, tracks from Soul Searching, including the title "Queen of My Soul" and the phenomenal "A Love of Your Own," prove that point. Tracks from 1975's Cut the Cake and Feel No Fret's "Walk on By" are the only ones that didn't wear all that well. Despite the track list, Essentials doesn't tell the whole story, though. This set includes nothing from Warmer Communications or the clunky Benny & Us. Perhaps that's best. While Essentials isn't as worthy as a regular-release album or the more extensive The Best of Average White Band, it's not half bad. ~ Jason Elias, All Music Guide

The Essentials $7.98 The Essentials is a fine 11-track introduction to the music of Tommy James & the Shondells. Starting off with the song that made them stars -- the good-time oldies staple "Hanky Panky" -- and ending up with Tommy James' first solo hit, "Dragging the Line," this 12-track collection rounds up the group's hits and spotlights the dual nature of their career. The disc is pretty much split between the good-time frat rock staples that the band began their career with (the dramatic "I Think We're Alone Now," "Mirage," and the guaranteed dancefloor-filler "Mony Mony") and the slightly more psychedelic pop sounds they experimented with (the amazing "Crimson and Clover," "Sweet Cherry Wine," and "Crystal Blue Persuasion"). The cool thing about the band was that their attempts to broaden their sound were just as popular as their simple party songs. That is a rare occurrence in rock; James managed to pull it off by always finding killer hooks and melodies. Just try getting the chorus of "Crystal Blue Persuasion" or "Dragging the Line" out of your head after hearing them. Due to the lack of rarities or unusual tracks, devoted fans of Tommy James & the Shondells don't really need this disc. It is aimed at the casual music fan who wants the hits and only the hits, and on that count it certainly succeeds. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
